Mirage is an Autobot with the function of spy and is a very “effective intelligence gatherer” (according to his Tech Spec).  Mirage is an excellent marksman and fighter, but coming from an elite background he would rather spend his time hunting turbofoxes than being an Autobot freedom fighter.

When in combat he possesses some useful weapons such as his armor-piercing rocket-dart hunting rifle and his electro-disruptor which can create illusions to alter his appearance for a short time.

Mirage transforms between his robot mode and his Formula 1 race car (Ligier JS11-Ford).

The Generation 1 Mirage was released in 1984 and was based on one of the figures from the Diaclone toyline by Takara (1982).  The rub symbol did not come on the first year figures, it only appeared from 1985 onwards.
