Trailbreaker is an Autobot with the function of Defensive Strategist.  He transforms between his robot mode and his truck (Toyota Hilux) mode.  Trailbreaker often asks to be left behind thinking he is a liability because he consumes the most fuel and is very slow.  He has low self esteem and is often upset about his shortcomings.  Despite this he does have some impressive abilities such as projecting an impenetrable invisible force field and jamming radio transmissions.

The Generation 1 Trailbreaker was released in 1984 and was based on a figure of another name from Takara’s Diaclone toy line.  The rub symbol did not come on the first year figures, it only appeared from 1985 onwards.
