Jazz is an Autobot with the function of Special Ops. Agent.  He is “very cool, very stylish, very competent” (according to his Tech Spec).  Jazz finds learning enjoyable and has a great love and knowledge of Earth culture.  This makes him a very important right-hand man to Optimus Prime. 

He transforms between his robot mode and his race car (Martini Porsche 935 Turbo) mode.

The original Jazz was part of Takara’s Diaclone toy line in 1983, but with a different name.  The Generation 1 Jazz was then released as part of the Transformers by Hasbro in 1984.  The rub symbol did not come on the first year figures, it only appeared from 1985 onwards.
