Chainclaw is an Autobot with the role of Ground Trooper who transforms between his robot mode and his mechanical bear mode. He belongs to the group called Pretenders because he (as well as the other Autobot Pretenders) disguises his robot form inside a shell resembling an Earth being, in this case a bear shell.

Although Chainclaw is an excellent warrior he also worries constantly about little things. This can sometimes cause problems as it distracts him so much during battle that he is unable to fight(according to his Tech Spec).

The Generation 1 Chainclaw was released in 1988.
