Bumblebee is an Autobot with the role of Espionage who transforms between his robot mode and his car mode.  He belongs to the group called Pretenders because he (as well as the other Autobot Pretenders) disguises his robot form inside a shell resembling an Earth being, in this case a human.

Bumblebee is free spirited and courageous.  He was one of the smallest Autobots but with Pretenders shell he becomes much larger (according to his Tech Spec).

The Generation 1 Bumblebee was released in 1989.
